Introduction
Resource class brownouts are short, planned periods when CircleCI makes deprecated resource classes temporarily unavailable. These brownouts serve as an early warning system — by temporarily failing jobs that use deprecated resource classes, they help your team identify which configurations need updates before CircleCI permanently removes these resource classes on the end-of-life (EOL) date.
CircleCI now offers an organization setting that lets you control whether brownouts affect your builds. This setting mirrors the existing functionality for image brownouts and gives your organization more control during infrastructure transitions.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
Organization Admin permissions in CircleCI
Access to your organization's settings page
Instructions
To disable resource class brownouts:
Log in to the CircleCI web app.
Click on your organization name in the top-left corner to open the organization menu.
Select Organization Settings.
In the left sidebar, click Advanced.
Locate the Enable resource class brownouts toggle.
Toggle the setting off to disable brownouts for your organization.
To enable resource class brownouts:
Follow the same steps above, but toggle the setting on in step 6.
